The reason I chose this film was because the film began with establishing shot of a submarine under the sea, where it was quite dark and silent, creating a tense and mysterious atmosphere. The colours underwater are very dull and dark adding to the eerie atmosphere. The submarine is hit by an unidentified object which later turns out to be an old plane floating under water. As soon as the plane doesn’t cause any critical damage to the submarine, there is a wash of relief in the characters. However seconds later the submarine is going to be hit by another unidentified object, however there is a mid-shot of a set of toes. Immediately there is a confusion created, however seconds later I realise that the submarine is presented in such a way that the audience expects it to be a real submarine underwater however in reality it’s a toy submarine in the bath. The man sitting in the tub picks up the plane from underneath and shouts to his wife telling her to make sure that their son doesn’t leave his toys in the bath again.
